Première demande (first application to a Caf)

Il s’agit de votre première demande auprès d’une Caf

Vous pouvez réaliser votre démarche en ligne sans avoir de numéro de sécurité sociale.  

Faites votre demande d’aide au logement sur caf.fr, vous pourrez alors créer un compte. Un identifiant provisoire vous sera attribué afin de pouvoir poursuivre votre démarche en ligne (l’identifiant provisoire est composé de la lettre P et de 8 chiffres). Cet identifiant vous permettra de vous connecter à l’espace Mon Compte.

Après le traitement de votre demande, un numéro de sécurité sociale d’attente vous sera attribué par la Caf. Il vous permettra de vous connecter à votre espace Mon Compte pour réaliser vos démarches, suivre l’avancement de vos demandes et de vos paiements…

Afin de faciliter le traitement de votre demande, pensez à bien transmettre à la Caf une pièce d’identité (carte d’identité ou passeport) et une pièce d’état civil (acte de naissance).  

Vous bénéficiez déjà d’une prestation :

Un numéro de sécurité sociale d’attente vous a été communiqué par la Caf afin de vous connecter à votre espace Mon Compte. Si ce n’est pas le cas, contactez votre Caf par téléphone au 3230 (service gratuit + prix d’un appel local). 

If this is your first application to a Caf

You can submit your application online without having a social security number.

Begin by submitting your application for housing benefit at caf.fr. You can then create an account. A temporary user name will be given to you so you can continue your application online (the temporary user name will be composed of the letter P and 8 figures). This user name will allow you to log in to the My Account space.

After the CAF has processed your application, it will assign you a temporary social security number. This will allow you to log in to your My Account space for all your tasks, to track the progress of your applications and your payments, etc.

To facilitate the processing of your application, please send the CAF an identity document (identity card or passport) and a civil status document (birth certificate).

If you already receive a benefit:

A temporary social security number should have been communicated to you by the CAF so you can log in to your My Account space.
If you have not received this, contact your CAF by telephone on 3230 (free service + cost of a local call).

You have found your apartment. Apply for housing aid online on our website : caf.fr

1. Take with you :

• your housing agreement.
• your bank details.
• your asset declaration if you have some.

2. Go online on Caf.fr, click on « Mes services en ligne/Faire une demande de prestation » and let us guide you. Only 5 minutes needed ! You’re already a benefit recipient? Login to your account "Mon compte", click on "Simuler ou demander une prestation".

3. Finalize your application and send it to :

The 3 steps of student housing assistance

Step 1: Run a housing assistance simulation to estimate the amount you may receive

Before you start looking for an apartment, it’s recommended to run a housing assistance simulation.
It’s very practical — it helps you determine the budget you can allocate to rent.
You can run as many simulations as you want.

Step 2: Apply for housing assistance

Wait until you have moved in before starting your application.

Contrary to what many people think, applying early won’t make the payment arrive sooner.
 

• You will be asked for many pieces of information. Gather them beforehand to make the process easier : lease or rental contract, rent certificate, ID, bank account details (RIB)
• You can pause your application at any time and continue it later.

 IMPORTANT : At the end of the process, remember to save the summary of your online application !

Step 3: Once your application is submitted, activate your “My Account” space

This allows you to track your file and upload your documents.

A few words about “My Account”
From My Account on caf.fr or on the mobile app Caf – My Account, you can :

• track the progress of your application,
• update your personal situation,
• exchange messages with the Caf,
• send supporting documents when requested.
